The Board of Education approved the 2014/2015 School Calendar during their Tuesday night meeting.
The school year will begin for students on August 13th, and the last day will be May 21st – with May 20th and 21st being half-days, if needed for weather make up days. The new calendar will be based on Instructional Hours rather than the 180 day calendar.

The new calendar also includes some flexible time for teacher professional development.
The Board also approved the Homebound Contract and Out of State Travel for Lisa Burt and the Sand Rock Cheerleaders to attend Choreography Camp in Panama City Beach, Florida July 7th – 11th, at no expense to the Board; for Harold Pearson to attend the Southeastern State Pupil Transportation Conference in Daytona, Florida from June 29th – July 2nd to be funded by the Transportation Department, and Andrew Jones and the Sand Rock Highs School Scholar’s Bowl Team to participate in the National Academic Competition in Washington, DC May 30th – June 1st at no expense to the Board.
Personnel Action by the Board included approving the Principal Contract for Scott Hays at Gaylesville and Leave of Absence/Maternity Leave for Gaylesville Teacher, April McClung – March 4th – May 23rd.
The next scheduled meeting of the Board of Education will be Tuesday March 18th at the Central Office.
