The Cherokee County Board of Education made quick work of a light agenda Tuesday night.
Items that were approved included an agreement with the Sheriff’s Department for School Resource Officers and 11-thousand 761 dollars to replace bleacher seats in the gym at Gaylesville.
The board also approved agreements with the Tallahassee City Board of Education for AASB and Fairbanks LLC for the Medicaid Administrative Claiming Program.
Bids for propane, tires, garbage collection and HVAC went to Chandler Mountain Propane, B&C Tire Company, Waste Management and Wittichen Supply Company respectively.
Board members also approved out of state travel for Dexter Vines, Paul Bailey and students from the Spring Garden FFA and Cherokee FFA Chapters. They will be attending the National FFA Convention is Louisville, Kentucky October 29th through November 3rd at no cost to the board.
In personnel action, the board accepted the retirement of M. Anne Anderson, Kindergarten Teacher at Gaylesville School, effective December the 1st. Anderson retires after 28 years of service.
Classified placements included: Rachael Coffey, In School Suspension Paraprofessional at Centre Elementary (funded by Title I and effective October the 1st) and Greg Maddox, Custodian at Spring Garden School.
There was one contract change. Allison Kirby goes from half-time to full-time school counselor at Centre Middle School. Half will be paid for with Title I funds.
The board also approved a compensatory education contract with Tina Rowland for Education Services and voted to post the jobs of Instructional Paraprofessional at Centre Middle School and Elementary Teacher at Gaylesville.
There was one status change: Lynn Hunnicutt from half-time Paraprofessional (funded by Title) to Contracted Instructional Parapro at Gaylesville School, effective October the 1st.
