Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Celebration

The Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce recently held their annual Awards Ceremony.

That event included the presentation of a number of special awards in recognition of and in honor of those who go above and beyond to truly make a difference in their community and in doing so, enrich the lives of those residing in Cherokee County.

The Beautification Award went to the Hopewell Community Center with Judy Hopper being present to accept the honor.

The W.A. “Dub” Ellis Community Leadership Award was presented to Johnny & Betty Fann, who’ve owned Pruett’s Fish Camp for 35 years.

The Mary George Waite Spirit Award went to Edna Jennings.

The Chairman’s Merit Award was presented to the Centre-Piedmont-Cherokee County Regional Airport, and was accepted by Chairman of the Board Lee Hubbard.

Judge Kirk Day, on behalf of the Cherokee County IDA, presented Luanne Hayes with a Clock and Plaque honoring her for all her hard work associated with the airport.

That event concluded with the passing of the gavel from 2016/2017 Board Chairman Terry Long to 2017/2018 Chairman Dennis Trammell.

New Chamber Members for 2017/2018 included: Corey Colbert (the Colbert Firm); Tommy Minnix (Choice Insurance); John Boggs (Cherokee Health & Rehab Center); David Crawford (Model Tees).

2017/2018 Officers: Chairman – Dennis Trammell; Chairman Elect – Kirk Day; Treasurer – Craig Gilley; and Secretary – Luanne Hayes.
