Cherokee County Child Molester Sentenced To 10 Years In Prison

Cherokee County District Attorney Mike O’Dell announced that a child molester that had terrorized multiple generations of his own family was convicted Friday and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

70 year-old Robert Shad entered a guilty plea in Cherokee County Circuit Court before Judge Jeremy Taylor. He was convicted of attempted sexual abuse of a child under 12 and sexual abuse II.

Shad had been indicted last fall by a Cherokee County Grand Jury for sex crimes involving multiple victims.

Shad has applied for probation and he will appear before Judge Taylor on August 20 for a probation hearing.

District Attorney O’Dell commends Deputy District Attorney Bob Johnston, Investigator Josh Summerford, and Amber Spears from the Department of Human Resources for their diligent efforts in bringing Robert Shad to justice.
