Stolen Vehicle Found in Broomtown; Huntsville Man Arrested

Cherokee County Deputies recovered a stolen vehicle in the Broomtown area Saturday, and arrested a Huntsville man in connection with the theft; Deputy Hunter Brisendine went to a home in the northern portion of the county, after receiving information from On-Star, that a vehicle reported stolen earlier that same day in Floyd County, Georgia – had been tracked to that location.

Upon the deputy’s arrival, a man bolted from the vehicle, but was quickly apprehended.

31 year old Stephen Joel Anthony was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property 1st Degree, Attempting to Elude and Resisting Arrest. 

He also had an existing warrant for Failure to Appear on prior felony drug charges.

At this time, Anthony remains the Cherokee County Detention Center.
