Cherokee County Man Fatally Injured In A Two Vehicle Accident In Piedmont

A Cherokee County man was killed in a two car crash involving a dump truck on Monday in Piedmont.

Chief Phillip Winkles with the Piedmont Rescue Service told WEIS Radio that the accident occurred at approximately 12:15 p.m. on the Old Piedmont Gadsden Highway just West of Piedmont.

A Chevy Tahoe being driven by 32 year old Ryan Paris collided with a dump truck when he crossed the center line on a narrow road, according to Winkles.

Paris was pronounced dead at the scene by Calhoun County Coroner Pat Brown. The driver of the dump truck was taken to Gadsden Regional Medical Center by Piedmont Rescue for a back injury.

The Piedmont Police and Fire Departments, Piedmont Rescue and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency responded to the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
