Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Conducts ‘Run,Hide,Fight’ Training At Cherokee Medical Center

Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Michael Green recently conducted two “Run, Hide, Fight” training sessions at Cherokee Medical Center at their request.  According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, the training is designed to inform people of what to do during critical incidents, such as an active shooter.  The program is used nationally and focuses on three basic questions:

  • Run:Can you safely escape?
  • Hide:Is there a good place to hide?
  • Fight:Can you take out the shooter?

Sheriff Shaver stressed the importance of immediately dialing 911 when an emergency or crisis happens.  If your business or organization would like to receive this free training, just contact the sheriff’s office at 256-927-3365 or email jshaver@cherokeecounty-al.gov.
