Cherokee County Unemployment Rate One of Lowest in Region

Cherokee County’s latest unemployment rate is, once again, lower than that of surrounding counties and lower than the statewide rate.

The just released figures for the month of February, list the rate across the state of Alabama to be 6.2% – that’s down from the 6.4% posted in January, and the figures indicate Alabama currently has the highest number of people working than at any other time in the past eight years. 

Cherokee County’s latest rate is 5.7% meanwhile Etowah County came in at 6.2%, Cleburne at 6.3%, Calhoun at 6.8%, and DeKalb County managed to stay just below the seven percent mark at 6.9%.

For the month of February every county in the state of Alabama showed an improvement in the unemployment rate.
