Cherokee Electric Crews Travel To Live Oak, Florida To Assist In The Wake Of Hurricane Irma

Florida Power & Light said its “army” of crews has already restored power to 40 percent of the five million customers affected by Irma in the first 24 hours.

Florida Power says they expect to have power restored in nearly all of the eastern half of the state by the end of this coming weekend. Almost everyone should have power restored by the end of day on Sept. 22, except for areas still under water.

On Tuesday morning six two man service crews from the Cherokee Electric Co-op left Centre for Live Oak, Florida to assist crews with Suwannee Valley Electric.

Sarah Bright with Cherokee Electric says that crews will remain in Florida as long as they are needed.
