Cherokee Electric Crews Working to Repair Three-Phase Line / UPDATE / ALL POWER RESTORED at 10:30am

UPDATE POWER RESTORED at 10:30am

Cherokee Electric crews have been working since around 6:30 Monday morning to restore power to areas affected by heavy rains and high winds during the early morning hours.

Those high winds caused a tree to topple, bringing down power lines and in the process the three-phase line responsible for bringing power to much of that part of the county, Blanche, Broomtown, Mentone, Rhinehart, Gaylesville and so on – was damaged.

The Wind Advisory issued by the National Weather Service is calling for sustained winds of 15 – 25 mph with gusts of up to 35 mph possible – and will be in effect until 7:00pm today.

Those high winds, combined with the moisture in the ground, could lead to additional trees falling and causing damage to power lines.

Should you experience any problems with your power, contact the Cherokee Electric Co op, at (256) 927-5524.
