School Students Brave “4-H Pig Squeal Project” Responsibilities

Pig Pic

It’s called the Cherokee & Etowah County 2014 4-H Pig Squeal Project – and yes, it’s apparently just as much, maybe even more, fun as it sounds.

We had three guests on the WEIS Radio Morning Show Wednesday, including Landon Marks, Animal Science Agent of the County Extension Office, and two “pig squeal” participants – McKayla Self of Sand Rock and James Isaac Rogers from Spring Garden.

School students taking part in the program raise their animals – taking on the huge responsibility of daily care and feeding – until they’re ready to go to market – and the annual “Pig Squeal Show & Auction” is coming up this Saturday (April 26th)

Marks went on to say, that both the show and auction events are FREE, and open to the public – and everyone is urged to come out and support our area students.

For additional information on this project simply contact the Extension Office at (256) 927-3250.
