Centre, AL – Volunteers are integral to Cherokee Medical Center’s commitment to the community, by supporting the hospital’s mission of providing comprehensive care – physical, emotional and spiritual – to the residents of the Cherokee County community.
During National Volunteer Week (April 6 – 12), Cherokee Medical Center recognized the many contributions that these important individuals make, year-round. This year’s celebration highlighted the ways that volunteers improve the lives of others around them through their incredible spirit of giving.
A strong base of volunteers is essential to any community hospital.
Cherokee Medical Center is fortunate to have the active involvement of more than 25 caring, generous individuals from the Cherokee County and our neighboring communities who lend their time and talents to enrich the lives of others.
The volunteers assist with hospital activities, host fundraising events to provide scholarships for local students, as well as improve the hospital’s landscape by improving the look of the courtyard area.
During 2013 alone, approximately 20 volunteers provided nearly 5,000 hours of service to Cherokee Medical Center. A special banquet was held at the Grid Iron in Centre to recognize total service hours served by volunteers.
