The state of Alabama has approximately 23 million acres of forestland, providing a valuable resource, directly affecting the quality life for every resident of the state.   Forests provide a habitat for wildlife, clean the air, purify water, protect valuable topsoil and provide scenic beauty and recreational opportunities beyond compare.

So, with that in mind, the Cherokee County Forestry Planning Committee, Alabama Forestry Commission, NRCS Office, Master Gardeners and TREASURE Forest Association with several other organizations will be doing their annual Classroom in the Forest field trip for 5th graders this Friday and next (May 5th and 12th).
