Commissioners Kimball Parker, Carlton Teague Sworn In Wednesday

Prior to this week’s meeting of the Cherokee County Commission – Commissioners Kimball Parker and Carlton Teague were sworn in by Judge Sheri Carver.

Kimball Parker retained his post as District II Commissioner by defeating Republican Troy Patterson in a close race, receiving 3,462 to Patterson’s 3,393; meanwhile Carlton Teague – who ran unopposed – retained his position as District IV Commissioner.

IMG_1143IMG_1141During the course of Wednesday’s meeting, Commission Chairman Kirk Day took a moment to remind everyone that the appointments/reappointments to the Cherokee County Health Care Authority to fill those terms ending December 31st this year – will be made during the December 8th regular meeting of the Commission. Resumes will be accepted through close of business Wednesday, December 3rd.

In other business approval was granted for hiring Dinah Robinson Brock for the position of part-time library assistant at the Cherokee County Public Library.

There was also one request for special funding:

Chairman Kirk Day – that motion passed unanimously.

At the end of the meeting, Chairman Day asked if any of the commissioners had anything to share with those in attendance and Commissioner Teague had this to say:

The bridge had been closed for some time due to deck repairs being made on the span.

The next regular meeting of the Cherokee County Commission is set for Monday November 24th at 5:00pm – taking place in the County Administration Building in Centre.
