Coroner’s Inquest Will Look into Death of a Floyd County Inmate

Inquest 1

A coroner’s inquest, requested by Floyd County, Georgia Sheriff Tim Burkhalter will be held on Wednesday.

That inquest will delve deeper into the death of Ashley Louise McEarchern, who was found dead in her cell on January 28th of this year.

According to previous statements by Chief Deputy Tom Caldwell, the results of the autopsy were reported by The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the cause of death was reported as acute methamphetamine toxicity, with the manner of death being accidental.  Caldwell is saying the department was asking for the inquest to help them better understand when the methamphetamine was ingested and what the contents of the stomach may have shown at the time of her death.

The inquest will take place at 10:00 Wednesday morning at the Floyd County Courthouse in courtroom C on the third floor.
