Coty Blanchard Visits the WEIS Radio Studios

Coty 2Cherokee County native Coty Blanchard, now with the Tampa Bay Rays – stopped by WEIS Radio on Friday morning to share some insight into what he’s doing now – and he shared memories of his high school days with WEIS Radio’s Kurt Duryea:

Blanchard was a multi-sport standout at both Cherokee County High School and JSU before being drafted and signed by Tampa Bay in June of 2013.

He spent his rookie campaign with the Class A Princeton Rays in the Appalachian League – in 2014 he was bumped up to the New York/Penn League as a member of the Rays affiliate the Hudson Valley Renegades.

During his season with the Renegades the team took the McNamara Division championship

Blanchard made a significant contribution to the Hudson Valley offense with a solid batting average of .298 – which included two home runs, five triples and 30 runs batted in. He was also second in the league with 22 stolen bases.
