Two men were thrown from a lift that was about 80 feet in the air while working on a sign at the new Hampton Inn hotel on Turner McCall Boulevard, according to Rome police.

The lift became unleveled and it fell across the road, striking a vehicle.

One of the men in the lift was taken by personal vehicle to a hospital but another was taken to a hospital by ambulance for his injuries. His name is expected to be released later this evening.

The driver of the vehicle was not hurt.

PFC Mike Simmons said an investigator from OSHA is expected to be on the scene tomorrow.
