Big Rig Crashes and Burns on Highway 140 in Floyd County

A tractor trailer crash in Floyd County blocked traffic for more than an hour Thursday, after the big rig left the roadway and barreled into a construction site on Highway 140.  The truck slammed into some equipment, causing extensive damage to the fuel tanks which resulted in the rig catching on fire.

Fortunately, the driver and his wife both escaped serious injury and no one else was hurt in the accident.  The driver told firefighters that the bright sun had hampered his vision leading to the crash which occurred around 5:30pm near Buttram Road.
