Dave Chappelle Storming Netflix with Three New Stand-Up Specials

Netflix/Lester Cohen(NEW YORK) — Legendary comic Dave Chappelle has just signed a deal with Netflix that will bring three stand up specials to the subscriber-based streaming service.

According to a press release obtained by ABC Radio, Chappelle and director Stan Lathan will produce an original stand-up comedy special, while two will come directly from Chappelle’s personal comedy vault.

The two archived shows were directed by Lathan and filmed, respectively, at Austin City Limits and The Hollywood Palladium.

Both specials — Chappelle’s first in 12 years — will be released simultaneously in 2017.

No date has been announced for the new special.

“Dave Chappelle is a legendary voice in comedy — searing, vital, and now more than ever, essential,” said Lisa Nishimura, VP of Original Documentary and Comedy. “Dave’s three new specials promise to be some of the most anticipated events in comedy, and we are honored he will mark his global return on Netflix.”
