Death of Floyd County Woman Ruled Accident

Worsham 2

The death of a Floyd County woman has officially been ruled accidental.

Angela Lynn Worsham was reported missing by her mother, back on February 2nd (2014) – she was last seen by her ex-husband leaving the parking lot of the Food Lion supermarket located on Highway 27, between 7:00 and 8:00 that evening.

Search efforts over the next several days came up empty – however, her black 2000 Volkswagen Jetta was found February 8th, partially submerged in the creek near Armuchee Creek Bridge on Highway 27. When the vehicle was pulled from the water, Worsham’s body was found inside.

An autopsy was conducted February 10th at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab and the examination revealed only minor blunt force trauma – such as abrasions and contusions, with the result of the investigation being that her death was an accident and she had drowned once the vehicle went underwater.

According to the report the debris at the scene, and damage to the vehicle suggested that the Jetta left the roadway and went down a rock-faced incline before coming to rest in the creek.

The report also noted that toxicology did not reveal the presence of any controlled substances – however, Worsham’s blood alcohol level may have been a contributing factor in the accident.
