DHR Removes Two Children From Home In DeKalb County After Marijuana Growing Operation Is Discovered

Edward Joseph SawickiDeputies went to a home on Alabama Highway 68 in DeKalb County to conduct a welfare check on a child only find an indoor marijuana plant growing operation after knocking on the door. Deputies then secured the area and obtained a search warrant for the home.

During the search deputies report finding marijuana, 13 fully grown marijuana plants, drug paraphernalia, guns, a sawed off shotgun and a pistol that had altered serial numbers. The fully grown marijuana plants have a street value of $26,000.

Deputies arrested Edward Joseph Sawicki, 37 of Albertville, for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of short barrel rifle/shotgun and possession of altered firearm id.

DHR removed the two children from the home.

The DeKalb County Drug and Major Crimes Task Force, DeKalb County sheriff’s deputies, Crossville police officers and DeKalb County DHR all responded to the home.
