18 year old Katie Renea Halbert of Attalla, was arrested and charged with one count of Domestic Violence 3rd Degree/Reckless Endangerment, after her two year old child was found home alone by a family member.
According to investigators, that child – who was found walking around outside a residence in the Ivalee Community – was holding a suicide note written by Halbert and since that family member couldn’t immediately find the 18 year old, she dialed 9-1-1 for assistance.
Halbert was found several hours later, unharmed, in a nearby wooded area.
She is currently being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on a property bond of $1,000 and her child is in the care of the Department of Human Resources.
