Donald Glover Cast as Young Lando Calrissian in Han Solo "Star Wars" Movie

Michael Tran/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Let’s pray they don’t alter this deal any further: Donald Glover will play young Lando Calrissian in an upcoming Han Solo Star Wars film, according to Disney.

The untitled movie, which is expected to be released in 2018, will be directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and will star Alden Ehrenreich as a young Han Solo.

The film will focus on Lando and Han Solo as young men.

“We’re so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us,” Lord and Miller said in a joint statement. “These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations.  Also, we’d like to publicly apologize to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever.”

The directors did not add that Glover “truly belongs here with us among the clouds,” but they might as well have.

Glover, 33, has had a banner 2016. In June, it was revealed that he will appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and more recently, Atlanta, the FX show which he created and stars in, premiered to rave reviews.

He has not yet commented on his Star Wars role.
