Driver Loses Control of Vehicle on the Chesnut Bypass Early Tuesday Morning

DSCN0249

A woman was injured in a single-vehicle wreck, just before 7:00am Tuesday on the Chesnut Bypass in Centre.

The car left the roadway traveled across a small ditch and ended up in the parking lot of the Quick Mart.  Fortunately the vehicle just missed the gas pumps; the impact from where that car hit the ditch was significant enough to cause the driver’s side airbag to deploy.

According to witnesses at the scene the woman said she was on her way to Gadsden to visit someone in the hospital, when, for some reason, blacked out behind the wheel.

Those responding to the scene included the Centre Police and Fire Departments, in addition to Cherokee EMS; the woman was taken for treatment.

We’ll have more information as it becomes available.
