Etowah County Sheriff’s Office Spokeswoman Natalie Barton has confirmed that one person is dead and another is still missing following a drowning on Brooke Avenue this morning.
Etowah County Coroner London Pearce said 39 year old Betty Ann Moon was the woman who apparently drowned this morning at Big Wills Creek. Her body was recovered a little before 11 a.m.
The Gadsden Police Department is the lead agency in the case with Etowah County Sheriff’s Office Deputies assisting as rescue personnel are attempting to recover the second victim. No details are being released at this time
