Etowah County Administrator Fired Following Sexual Abuse Arrest

Simms 1Its official – Patrick Simms is now the EX-County Administrator in Etowah County.

His contract has been terminated, two and a half months after his arrest on charges of child sexual abuse.

The Etowah County Commission voted 5 – 0 to break ties with Simms – Commissioner Joey Statum was absent from that meeting; Simms contract had been renewed two years ago – he had held that position since 2006. In 2012, he was named County Administrator of the Year.

Simms was arrested February 19th, and charged with sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12 with the incident allegedly occurring around February 8th according to authorities in Chambers County. His case has been bound over to a grand jury; Simms’ lawyer maintains that his client is innocent of all charges.
