Etowah County Man and Wife Charged in Connection with String of Burlaries

OkayAn Etowah County man and his wife have been arrested, and charged, in connection with a string of burglaries dating back to February of this year (2015).

37 year old Grover Wayne Carter stands charged with five counts of Third Degree Burglary and one count of First Degree Theft of Property – all felonies; meanwhile, Elsa Pearl Carter has been charged with two felony counts of Third Degree Burglary.

According to information provided by Sheriff Todd Entrekin Grover Carter broke into three homes and several chicken houses between February 9th and March 15th – with more than $16,000 worth of merchandise being taken from properties on Old Gallant Road, Silo Road, Tumlin Gap Road and Terrell Road.

He is also accused of breaking into a hunting camper on Unity Church Road – stealing more than $6,000 worth of items.

Grover Carter is being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on bond of $17,500 and his wife, Elsa Carter, was released after meeting her $5,000 bond.

The investigation is on-going.
