Etowah County Man Charged For Failing To Identify Himself As A Registered Sex Offender

CarlBenjaminRoeAn Etowah County man has been arrested for a sex offender violation

Etowah County Sheriff’s Investigator Josh Morgan said that 51 year old Carl Benjamin
Roe, 51, of Gadsden, is charged with one count of violation of identification requirements.

Hokes Bluff police officers responded to an incident at the Mill Pond, Hokes Bluff, where Roe allegedly was causing problems.

He did not identify himself as a sex offender when initially speaking to the officers and was unable to provide proper identification.

Etowah County Sheriff’s Office deputy Chad Langdale arrived on scene and accurately identified Roe as a sex offender.

Being a sex offender, Roe is required by law to have appropriate ID with him and provide it when asked for.

Roe is currently in the Etowah County Detention Center on $2,500 bond. He has several prior convictions for sex crimes in the states of Alabama and Florida.
