Multiple law enforcement agencies will be taking part in an active shooter drill next week at Gaston School. Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin said the drill will take place Thursday, Oct. 13.
The drill will simulate an active shooter inside the high school building only. Entrekin said “a full law enforcement response” will follow.
The drill is a continuation of Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response (ALERRT) training and “Run, Hide, Fight” training. It is designed to prepare students, teachers and administrators for an active shooter on a school campus.
Parents and community members should not be alarmed when seeing first responders and emergency vehicles at the school on this day.
