A police officer who recently resigned from the Anniston PD has been arrested and charged with sexually abusing a child under the age of 12.
According to ABC 33/40 – 39 year old Thomas Anthony Gassaway of Wellington, will appear in court on September 5th. He’s currently being held in the Cleburne County Jail – with bond set at $500,000.
According to court records – the alleged abuse occurred between November of 2009 and July 1st of this year (2013).
Gassaway resigned from the police force on July 23rd (2013). He had reportedly been placed on administrative leave prior to that, due to an investigation by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation being conducted into the allegations of sexual misconduct.
