Ex-Floyd County Police Officer Goes to Trial Next Tuesday (May 20th)

Earwood

Former Floyd County Police Officer Patrick Earwood appeared in court earlier this week – with Floyd Superior Court Judge Tami Colston setting jury selection for his trial which comes up next week.

Earwood was terminated from his position at the Cave Spring Police Department last July (2013) after being accused of forcing a woman he had arrested into engaging in a sexual act with him in exchange for her release.

The incident allegedly occurred in early May of 2013.

Warrants charged Earwood with Aggrvated Sodomy and two counts of Sexual Assault.

He was already in jail after being denied bond for a previous arrest – where he allegedly sexually assaulted two teenage girls while on duty. One of the girls was under sixteen years of age.

He was charged with Aggravated Sodomy and Aggravated Child Molestation in connection with those incidents.

Earwood’s jury trial is set to begin next Tuesday (May 20th) in Judge Colston’s courtroom.
