Faulty GPS Unit Sends Man into Muddy Field

According to a report by the Summerville News, a Cherokee County man became stuck in a muddy field in the Lyerly area after receiving false directions from his GPS unit. Summerville resident Dale Housch said he saw a blue Ford Explorer in the middle of a field, off of Oak Hill Road after receiving a call that the vehicle was on his property.

According to a Chattooga County Deputy the man, a resident of Gaylesville stated he was on his way to work and was following his GPS, which kept losing signal; he reportedly went on to say the GPS told him to turn left – which he did – into the field.  He then traveled around 100 yards into the field before attempting to turn back and getting stuck in the mud.

The deputy said the truck was eventually pulled back to the roadway, with the assistance of the property owner.
