Feds Release Funds For New Chattooga County Health Clinic

The Georgia Business Chronicle is reporting that funds will be released for eight proposed health care clinics in Georgia, including one in Summerville.

Former State Representative Barbara Massey Reece says that she had worked for years to see the clinic established in Chattooga County.

According to Reece the state portion of the funds were approved in the state’s budget four years ago.

Duane Kavaka, director of Primary Health Care Centers said that the areas approved for the clinics, including Chattooga County are all “high -need areas and represent an additional step in the right direction of having more services for the uninsured and under-insured in those areas and good working relationships with their respective hospitals.”

$19 million has been approved for release for the clinics in Georgia by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
