Fired CVS Pharmacist Awarded $400,000

CVS 1A 66 year old ex-pharmacist is having the last laugh after a federal jury awarded him $400,000 in damages, because he was allegedly fired from a CVS Pharmacy in Anniston, because of his age.

According to the Anniston Star attorneys for Roger Harris filed a suit against the pharmacy chain in 2011, claiming that his supervisor and co-worker’s, created a workplace filled with derogatory remarks regarding the age of the pharmacist.

The suit contends that both his supervisor and district manager failed to correct that behavior and Harris later received a series of inaccurate and unfounded reprimands regarding job performance; Harris was fired in August of 2009 and his replacement was under the age of 40 and according to court records, was paid significantly less than Harris.

The jury found Friday (November 8th) that CVS did indeed fire Harris because of his age thereby committing a willful violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act which led to Harris being awarded the $400,000 judgment.
