Firefighters Respond to Structure Fire On East Main Street

Units with the Centre, Spring Creek and Leesburg Fire Departments responded to a report of a structure at a residence on East Main Street near Foothills Tractor in Centre just after 10:00 Wednesday night.

Centre Police arrived in the scene to find heavy smoke coming from a duplex apartment. Firefighters arrived and cleared both homes evacuating the residents. Cherokee EMS Paramedics were also called to the scene to check an individual for possible smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.

The fire was extinguished prior to firefighters arriving on the scene. Cherokee Electric crews were also called to the scene.

The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
