First Ever Centre Parks & Recreation Team To Capture A State Title Recognized

The first ever Centre Parks & Rec. team to capture a State Title was recognized Tuesday’s meeting of the Centre City Council, Centre Mayor Tony Wilkie –

The team is coached by Head Coach Troy Patterson and Assistant Coaches Marcus Williams and Jason Payne.

Centre Police Chief Kirk Blankenship was also recognized by the mayor and council for his completion of 80 hours of training and accreditation from the Alabama Association of Chiefs of Police .

In other business the council approved the purchase of five additional light poles and lights for the tennis complex, Mayor Pro-Tem Bess Yarbrough and Parks & Rec. Director Charles Glazner explained that these poles are in need of immediate of repair because wood peckers have damaged the current poles to the point that they in danger of falling.

The cost estimate of over $5,000 approved however did not include the installation of the poles.

The council also agreed to once again participate in the Past Times publication released each year by the Cherokee County Herald at a cost of $360.00
