Floyd County Prison Inmate Dies While In Custody

Christopher Michael MarinosA Floyd County Prison inmate has died while in custody.

Floyd County Coroner Barry Henderson said Christopher Michael Marinos, 30, was pronounced dead at the Floyd Medical Center at 7:20 Tuesday morning.

Per Georgia law in the case of in custody deaths, his body has been sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy.

Gwendolyn Hogan, public affairs manager with Georgia Department of Corrections said the inmate died of an apparent suicide but they could not comment further because the matter was under investigation by their department and the GBI.
