Floyd Medical Center Employee Receives Record Settlement from Hospital

Corley 1An employee of Floyd Medical Center in Rome – has received an $8.5 million settlement in connection with an automobile accident during which he lost a leg.

On December 19th of 2012, Cleve Corley was riding his motorcycle, when he was struck by a Floyd Healthcare System truck on Riverside Parkway; the driver of the truck was found to be at fault in the accident. As a result of the crash Corley lost one of his legs above the knee.

Corley says that throughout the entire ordeal, Floyd has been “wonderful” to him and “very supportive,” The two sides were unable to come to an agreement however, in regard to the amount of damages – and therefore the case went to trial before Superior Court Chief Judge Walter Matthews and 12 jurors.

According to Haley Walker with Floyd Medical Center – there will be no comment issued at this time, because the case is “in litigation posture”.
