Senator Phil Williams will retain that designation following his victory over Larry Means in Tuesday’s election.
Williams garnered 52% of the vote across four counties, to defeat Means in that District 10 race. Means took Etowah County, while Williams claimed victory in Cherokee, DeKalb and St. Clair counties; the margin of victory for the current senator was much the same the last time around, when he won with 53% of the vote.
The 67 year old Means told the Gadsden Times that, at his age this may very well be his last attempt at gaining the senate seat.
