Funeral Services Announced For Former Cedar Bluff Mayor

Martha BakerFormer Cedar Bluff Mayor Martha Baker passed away Monday (November 3rd, 2014). She had resigned from the position of mayor earlier in the year; Mrs. Baker had also served in that capacity between 2004 and 2008.

After losing to Ethel Sprouse, Baker served on the Town Council until 2012 when she again claimed the post of mayor – defeating Sprouse by a narrow margin in that race.

Funeral Services will be 2:00pm Wednesday at Cedar Bluff First united Methodist Church with the Rev. Tim Kendrick officiating. Burial will follow in the Cedar Bluff Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until the hour of service at 2:00pm at the church.

Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers include; Chum Baker, Reb Baker, Mark Baker, Rex Johnson, Carl Baker, Claiborne Morris, Tim Harton, Tommy Lee and Myron Wilson.

Survivors include; Sons, Robert Daniel Baker of Cedar Bluff, Ivan Hayne Baker of Birmignham, Daughters, Anita Lee Baker Jones of Schneckville, PA, Martha Lisa Baker of Willingboro, NJ and sister Sara Daniel Johnson of Centre, 5 grandchildren, 4
great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Baker.

Mrs. Baker was a native of Cherokee County, the daughter of the late Ear Eugene Daniel and Iva Lucille Smith Daniel Broom, was retired as the Director of Data Processing at Gadsden Regional Medical Center, was the former Mayor of Cedar Bluff and was a member of Cedar Bluff First United Methodist Church.
