Former School Board Member Lisa McKissick Appointed To Fill Unexpired Term

The Cherokee County School Board has appointed former Board Member Lisa McKissick to temporarily fill the unexpired term of Dr. Mark Green who recently resigned because he is moving out of the district.

During their regular meeting on Tuesday, School Board Chairman Suzanne Bishop stated that the board had received several well qualified names interested in the position. In accordance with Alabama Association of School Boards Standards the board opened the floor for nominations and Board Member Lynn Rochester nominated McKissick, Board Member Brian Jennings voted against the measure and Superintendent Mitchell Guice was not allowed to have a say in the appointment or the nomination which is the policy of AASB.

In personnel action; the board accepted the resignation of Michael Morgan, Science Teacher at Cedar Bluff School.

Certified Placements included Drew Hall, Career Paraprofessional/Business Ed/Information Technology Teacher at Cherokee County Career & Tech School, Shane Morrow History Teacher at Centre Middle School, Barrett Ragsdale Assistant Principal at Spring Garden and Brian Clowdis English Teacher at Spring Garden.

Classified Placements were Anna Adams Instructional Paraprofessional at Centre Middle School and Johnnie Holder Assistant Lunchroom Manager at Centre Middle School.
