Another area municipality is going to be taking a look at its animal control ordinance.

The Fort Payne City Council is set to take another look at its animal control ordinance, which was passed in November 2011.

Council members there have felt the pressure from some critics who feel the ordinance should be stricter.

The ordinance, which pertains mostly to dogs, requires all dogs to be vaccinated against rabies and makes it unlawful for any dog that has been deemed a nuisance or vicious animal to not be securely penned.

Last week, the Leesburg Town Council decided it would take a look at implementing regulations to deal with excessive barking and vicious dogs.

Mayor Ed Mackey said during that meeting that he will have the City Attorney draw up a sample ordinance which will be presented to the council and the public.

There will be two readings of the ordinance during public meetings before it would be adopted.
