Four Alarm Blaze Heavily Damages Several Campers On County Road 637

Firefighters from multiple departments responded to a four alarm blaze at the Helen Graham Campground off of County Road 637 on Friday afternoon.

Firefighters from Spring Creek, McCords, Ellisville, Centre and Cedar Bluff were on the scene for several hours preforming salvage and overhaul operations. High winds also hampered operations and caused the fire to spread quickly.

At least two campers were completely destroyed with several others suffering significant damage.

Fortunately no one was injured in the fire but Cherokee EMS Paramedics were called to the scene as a precautionary measure. Cherokee County EMA Director Shawn Rogers also responded to the scene along with personnel from the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department, Cherokee Electric and the American Red Cross.
