Four Arrested on Drug Charges in DeKalb County

Rogelo DurelFour people were arrested on a variety of drug charges in DeKalb County over the weekend.

Sheriff Jimmy Harris said the four were placed under arrest, following a search of a residence on Highway 75 in the Painter community.

DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Geraldine Police Officers, went to the home, in the wake of several complaints of possible drug activity at the location.

Officers caught one suspect trying to flee the scene and afterwards conducted a consent search of the property.  That search turned up 25 pounds of marijuana, a pistol and other drugs.

Those taken into custody included – 39 year old Ubaldo Vieyra Eojes, 26 year old Rogelo Durel, 33 year old Jennifer Dawn Smith and 29 year old Heather Cherry Lopez – all of Crossville.

They were each charged with the Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Trafficking in Marijuana.

Lopez was also wanted on an outstanding warrant from the Crossville Police Department.

All four were transported to the DeKalb County Detention Center where they await bond.

Sheriff Harris says “I’m glad to get this large amount of drugs off the street. Chief Gregory and his staff at Geraldine are always ready to work with us in these cases. Tips from citizens in the community led to this arrest and seizure. Our officers continue to follow up on information from the public and get good results.”
