Four Injured in Head-On Collision Sunday Afternoon on County Road 29

Wreck 1A head-on collision late Sunday afternoon resulted in four people being injured.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report the crash took place at 4:30pm at the intersection of County Roads 29 and 162 and involved a 2003 Ford driven by 31 year old Jason Miller and a 2004 Mazda, being driven by 32 year old Kristin Matthews – both of Piedmont.

Both drivers were listed on the report as being injured, along with two passengers: 29 year old Amber Miller in the Ford, and 20 year old Ashley Palmer in the Mazda. Both Miller and Palmer were listed as being residents of Piedmont as well.

According to early reports at least two of the victims were trapped inside their vehicle with three of the four possibly suffering head injuries.

No additional information regarding the condition of any of those involved – or where each victim was taken for treatment – was noted on the report.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.

The McCord’s Fire Department, Cherokee EMS, Cherokee County Rescue Squad & Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.
