Three individuals from Boaz have been arrested after a four month long investigation involving the trafficking of methamphetamine in Etowah and Marshall Counties, according to Deputy Commander Phil Sims.

Denise Johnson, 39, George Hoff Jr, 53, and Tammy Williams, 45, all  of  Boaz, Al. are charged with trafficking in methamphetamine.

On May 31, 2017, Etowah and Marshall County drug agents, along with Boaz PD, executed a drug search warrant at an address on Pleasant Hill Cutoff Rd in Boaz. Agents found Williams hiding in a closet while securing the residence.

During the search, Boaz Police Sgt. Justin Dake deployed  K-9 “JAX” in the residence. K-9 “JAX” gave a positive indication of the presence of drugs on a black bag in the master bedroom. Inside the bag, Agents recovered approximately 31 grams of methamphetamine, $1040 cash, syringes, glass pipes, and digital scales.

Johnson, Hoff, and Williams were booked into the Etowah County Detention Center on a $50,000 cash bond each. Johnson is on federal probation for a previous drug charge and faces additional charges in Marshall County. Also, Williams is wanted on a outstanding failure to appear warrants in Marshall and Blount Counties.

“Based on this investigation, we believe Johnson is responsible for trafficking and distributing large amounts of methamphetamine in Etowah,  Marshall, and surrounding counties. Due to the cooperation of all the agencies involved, these arrests will make a difference in our communities. We will refer this case through the FBI’s Safe Street Task Force for possible federal prosecution”.

Agencies that participated in this investigation included both Etowah and Marshall County Drug Task Force’s, Boaz Police Department, and FBI North Alabama Safe Streets Task Force.
