Ft Payne Man Indicted on Murder and Kidnapping Charges

Blevins 100A man has been indicted by a grand jury on charges of Murder and 2nd Degree Kidnapping, in connection with the 2013 death of 32 year old Huntsville resident Leanne Ivy.

Back in September of that year, Ft Payne Police responded to a domestic violence report on Godfrey Avenue North, and arrived to find a woman with blood on her hand; Franklin Ledel Blevins was identified as a suspect and he was seen in an alleyway behind the home.

Blevins then fled the scene, leading officers on a high-speed chase into the Adamsburg area, where he lost control of his vehicle near the intersection of Highway 35 and County Road 295; his truck then crashed into a tree, fatally injuring Ivy, who was a passenger in the vehicle.

According to the Ft Payne Times-Journal Blevins was on federal probation at the time of the accident.

No information has been released regarding a sentencing date.
