Ft Payne Police Release Info on the Highway 35 Wreck on Wednesday

The Ft Payne Police Department has released information on that Wednesday accident that closed down a portion of Highway 35 for more than two-and-a-half hours. 

WEIS Radio News initially received word from the Alabama Department of Transportation, that a truck had crashed on 35 near the Little River Canyon Park in DeKalb County, and as a result travel was closed down to northbound traffic at the intersection with Alabama 273 in Cherokee County.

That wreck was worked by the Ft Payne Police Department and according to information in their report, the accident involved a log truck which was NOT loaded at the time.  It appears the driver lost control of the 1998 Mack and left the roadway, running into a deep ditch.

The rig was being driven by 30 year old Lyerly, Georgia resident Cody Joe Cromer, who was transported to Floyd Medical Center in Rome via DeKalb Ambulance Service.

No information was immediately available regarding the extent of Cromer’s injuries.

That accident remains under investigation by the Ft Payne Police Department.
