A Centre Police Officer who died last week in a tragic automobile accident was laid to rest Tuesday.

Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange joined members of the law enforcement community from across the area for the funeral for Jeff Bryant.

Centre Mayor Tony Wilkie and former Cherokee County Probate Judge Melvyn Salter were among those spoke during the service.

Police cars from Centre and other agencies in Cherokee and surrounding counties then led the funeral procession from Perry Funeral Home, at one point passing by the Centre Police Department Headquarters and City Hall on Main Street.

Bryant’s law enforcement career spanned more than 20 years.

He joined the Centre Police force more than six years ago and was an investigator with the department.
