GADSDEN STATE RECEIVES $15,000 GRANT FROM THE GENE HAAS FOUNDATION

The Gene Haas Foundation recently presented Gadsden State Community College with $15,000 grant to cover tuition for students pursuing credentials in the Precision Machining Program.

“Scholarship funds will go to deserving students with Precision Machining as their major,” said David Smith, instructor. “Students often need assistance with tuition, and these funds will certainly be appreciated.”

Scott Oden, a sales engineer with the Haas Factory Outlet, presented the check to Smith and Tim Green, dean of Technical Education and Workforce Development.

“Haas Automation is known for manufacturing some of the best machine tools in the business,” Green said. “And the Haas Foundation is known for being generous supporters of students pursuing careers in machine technology.”

The Gene Haas Foundation is named for the founder of Haas Automation, the largest machine tool builder in the western world. The foundation offers scholarships to high schools, community colleges and special educational programs that help build skills within the machining industry.
